When his beloved German Shepherd Dozer was dognapped from his backyard, Canadian Richard Brower was heartbroken.
Although Brower searched high and low for his pup, he was unable to find the missing dog. So, 18-months later Bowser attempted to heal by adopting another pup.

However, as he began looking through the Clareshom Animal Rescue Society’s website for potential pups, he was astonished to come upon the picture of a dog that looked exactly like Dozer.
As he told CBC Radio,
“It was the first post that came up, and Dozer was just staring me back in the face, looking pretty much like he did 18 months before. And my heart just kind of sank, and I started shaking.”
He contacted the rescue ASAP, and it just happened that day Bowser’s father was near the shelter at the time. So the elder Bowser went into the shelter to check and see if it was Dozer. The pup immediately recognized him. Just to make sure, Bowser asked his father to perform a hand command that only Dozer would know–and that sealed the deal. The pup was definitely him!

Bowser and Dozer were reunited that very day. As he recounted to CBC:
“It was just amazing when he got home. As soon as he got on the block, dad said his tail started wagging, and as soon as he pulled into the driveway I opened the door and he just flew right in and buried his head in my armpit and just started whining like a baby.”
